DC or AC fan — what's the difference?
DC brushless motors are typically quieter and use less power than standard AC motors. The HPF40RDC DC pedestal fan runs on 20 W, against 50 W for a standard 40cm pedestal fan like the PF40W — handy for fans left on all night.
Fan or evaporative cooler?
A fan moves air to cool you by breeze. An evaporative cooler blows air through water-soaked pads, so the air itself is cooler — it works best on hot, dry days and less well in humid weather. Keep a window or door open while it runs.
